Stones Decry Censorship

Apparently, the Rolling Stones have mixed emotions about being censored at Sunday's Super Bowl XL.

Initial word from ABC and the NFL was that the band had acquiesced to producers of the halftime show who decided to muffle some racy lyrics from two songs by lowering the volume on Mick Jagger's mike. But now, a rep for the Stones calls the action "absolutely ridiculous."

Doherty Avoids Jail

The perpetually troubled Babyshambles rocker has, miraculously, avoided jail time after racking up seven--count 'em, seven--separate drug charges, most coming in rapid succession last month.

Kate Moss' notorious ex, who pleaded guilty to heroin and cocaine possession in London's Thames Magistrates Court just two weeks ago, was in London's Ealing Court for sentencing early Wednesday.

The baby-faced 26-year-old was ordered to enter a drug rehabilitation program and receive monthly check-ups for the next year.

Busta's Bodyguard Killed

Busta Rhymes' security guard was fatally shot in Brooklyn Saturday night as the rapper and several A-list pals gathered to make a music video.

Israel Ramirez, 29, a longtime member of Rhymes' entourage, was shot once in the chest at 1:30 a.m. outside the industrial warehouse where the shoot was taking place. Filming of the video had already begun on a ninth-floor soundstage when violence erupted outside, police said.

More than a dozen shots were fired into the crowd of nearly 500 on-set extras. Rhymes was not hurt in the incident, nor were any of the artists standing by to make cameos in the video: Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent, Missy Elliott and Lloyd Banks.

The widow of Nirvana icon Kurt Cobain told a Los Angeles court Friday, per reports, that she "feel[s] great," is spending her days playing guitar, and has "put a very gnarly drug problem behind [her]."

In his L.A. courtroom, Judge Rand Rubin complimented Love for her progress in drug treatment, and freed her from house arrest.

The R&B star, embroiled in an ongoing kiddie porn case, leads the nomination list for the 20th Annual Soul Train Music Awards.

Kelly snapped up three nods, for R&B Soul Album for "TP.3 Reloaded," and Best Male R&B/Soul Single and Best Video for "Trapped in the Closet (Chapter 1 of 5)."

Among the artists racking up two nods apiece were Grammy favorites Kanye West, Mariah Carey and John Legend. Legend will also receive the Sammy Davis Jr. Award for Entertainer of the Year.

Boy George isn't ready to tumble 4 any drug charges.

At least that's the word Wednesday from the former Culture Club crooner's lawyer as he and his star client turned up in a Manhattan Criminal Court to answer charges stemming from an Oct. 7 drug bust.

George, who's real name is George O'Dowd, faces one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree and filing a false police report.

"In the strongest possible terms, George maintains his innocence," his lawyer said.

The singer's free on bail and due back in court Mar. 8.
