The burden is on Proof.

Police in Detroit have confirmed that the D12 rapper was the first one to draw his gun and opend fire in a deadly nightclub shooting early Tuesday that led to his death and left another man hospitalized in critical condition with a bullet wound to the head.

Investigators were still trying to sort out who fired the fatal shot that struck Proof in the head, killing him. Police said that a man has turned himself in to police for questioning, but it was not immediately known if he was a suspect. His identity was not revealed.

June Pointer Dies

June Pointer's Grammy-winning career began, literally, with a "Fairytale." Its ending was another story.

The singer, whose years of drug abuse prompted her expulsion from the family business that is the Pointer Sisters, died Tuesday at a Los Angeles hospital, the group's official Website said. The cause of death was cancer.

Pointer, the youngest of the performing siblings, and a key spark to their hits such as "I'm So Excited," "Neutron Dance," and "Jump (For My Love)," was 52.

According to a family statement, Pointer died "in the arms of her sisters, Ruth and Anita, and [with] her brothers, Aaron and Fritz, by her side."

The Babyshambles frontman failed to show up Wednesday in a London courtroom for a progress report on his drug rehabilitation. The perpetually trouble-plagued rocker, who is a familiar face at the courthouse these days, had been ordered to appear as part of a guilty plea earlier this year to posssessing a laundry list of illicit substances.

According to his legal team, the 26-year-old Doherty was not able to attend because he was held up in Paris, where his band had played a gig the night before. As a result, District Justice Jane McIvor postponed the hearing until May 12.
