Ashanti's Family Crisis

Ashanti's South African adventure has been cut tragically short.

The Grammy-winning singer canceled her first scheduled concert in Johannesburg and is heading back to the States following the shocking death of her cousin Quinshae Snead, who had accompanied her to South Africa.

Snead, 20, had been running an errand for the R&B star Saturday before the concert when her car was hit by a drunken 17-year-old driver, who had stolen his mother's car and was driving without a license, according to Johannesburg police.

Proof Suspect Arraigned

The man who gunned down Proof has been arraigned on weapons violations.

Mario Etheridge, 28, pleaded not guilty Saturday to two counts of carrying a concealed weapon and the discharge of a firearm in a building. He turned himself in last week after firing the fatal shots, an act he claims was in self-defense.

If convicted on weapons violations, Etheridge faces a maximum of five years in prison for each felony count.

Meanwhile, a public viewing for the slain rapper is set for Tuesday in Detroit. The funeral will take place the following day.
