Cruise: I Was Abused

As Tom Cruise prepares to be a proud papa again, he has implied that there's one man he definitely will not be taking lessons in daddyhood from.

His own father.

The "War of the Worlds" star told Parade magazine that his father, Thomas Cruise Mapother III, who died in the mid-'80s of cancer, was abusive.

""He was a bully and a coward. He was the kind of person where, if something goes wrong, they kick you," Cruise said. "It was a great lesson in my life--how he'd lull you in, make you feel safe and then, bang!"

Renfro: Rehab Working

This time, Brad Renfro says, he will stay clean.
b "I'm tired of paying the consequences," the "Apt Pupil" star told reporters Tuesday outside a Los Angeles courtroom. The actor was on the docket for a progress report of his latest attempt at rehabilitation as part of his sentence stemming from a December bust in which he was arrested for attempted heroin possession.

Hasselhoff Fights Back

Anyone who would accuse David Hasselhoff of abusing his wife must be crazy and/or on drugs.

At least that's the actor seems to contend in new court documents in which he implies that his estranged wife Pamela Bach, who has accused him of domestic violence, has a drug problem and needs to be under the care of a mental health professional.

Aniston Mum on Rumor

Or so it seemed after "Today" show entertainment correspondent Jill Rappaport questioned Jennifer Aniston Tuesday about the latest grist for the rumor mill surrounding Aniston and boyfriend Vince Vaughn. But although the 37-year-old actress clammed up, her "Friends with Money" costar Catherine Keener was on-hand to ward off what could have been a pret-ty awkward silence.

When Rappaport asked Aniston if there was any truth behind the rumor that Oprah Winfrey was throwing an $8 million blowout wedding for Aniston and her beau, the "Good Girl" actress kept a stiff upper lip.
