Martin having time of his life in front of NASCAR's young guys

April 7, 2006

Mark Martin wasn't even supposed to be in Nextel Cup racing this season. He certainly seems out of place in the standings. Back for another season with Roush Racing after some other unexpected changes, the 47-year-old Martin already has four top-10 finishes. He's second in the standings - the only driver over 35 who's in the top 10. "Well, it's a lot harder work when you get my age to get it done.

Pork chops with brown sugar and apple cider vinegar, glazed with cherry barbecue sauce. Bananas Foster. The smell of exhaust. For internationally known chef Mario Batali, it's a winning combination. Batali, who is promoting a new cookbook for NASCAR fans, oversaw an elaborate lunch for the racing media Friday at Texas Motor Speedway. The grilled chops were served at tables under a large infield tent while Nextel Cup practice roared in the background.

April 7, 2006

The Hall of Fame quarterbacks who combined to win the Dallas Cowboys' five Super Bowl championships - Staubach two in the 1970s and Aikman three in the 1990s - are making their Texas debut as NASCAR owners this weekend.
