Harvick pads series lead with Pepsi 300 win
April 15, 2006Nextel Cup driver Kevin Harvick raced to his first NASCAR Busch Series victory of the year Saturday, taking the lead with 52 laps to go and holding off teammate Clint Bowyer after a late caution in the Pepsi 300. Harvick finished 0.504 seconds ahead of Bowyer, his Richard Childress racing teammate, who rallied after falling two laps down because of problems on a green-flag pit stop early in the race at Nashville Superspeedway.

Hamlin claims Busch pole
April 15, 2006Denny Hamlin edged Clint Bowyer Saturday to claim the NASCAR Busch pole for the Pepsi 300 at Nashville Superspeedway. Hamlin had a lap of 165.282 mph on the 1.33-mile concrete oval while at the controls of No. 20 Chevrolet for Joe Gibbs Racing. The Busch race is scheduled for later Saturday. "We had a great run," Hamlin said. "I was kind of disappointed after practice yesterday but (crew chief) Dave Rogers made the perfect adjustments again and got us on the pole for the second straight week.
