Hamlin, a Chesterfield native gearing up for his first start at Richmond International Raceway in NASCAR's premier series, suffered the cut while he and his crew members were racing around the team hauler after the test session.

May 4, 2006When Sterling Marlin takes the green flag for Saturday night's Nextel Cup race at Richmond International Raceway, it will be two days shy of the 30-year anniversary of his first start in NASCAR's top stock car series. Marlin made his Cup debut on May 8, 1976, at Nashville Speedway, subbing for his father, Clifton "Coo Coo" Marlin, who injured his shoulder during an ARCA qualifying session at Talladega Superspeedway the week before.
