Halil Altintop scored two goals Sunday to help FC Kaiserslautern's battle against demotion, lifting the club past Borussia Moenchengladbach 3-0. The German-raised Turk scored in the 32nd and 33rd minutes to run his total to 16 goals, second only to Bundesliga leader Miroslav Klose of Werder Bremen. The win moved Kaiserslautern one point away from escaping the relegation zone. Altintop said the win didn't really solve the problems at Kaiserslautern, a four-time German champion.

Germany's match-fixing scandal reached the Bundesliga for the first time this weekend, 10 weeks before the country hosts the World Cup. Munich investigators said Sunday they searched betting agencies for evidence of game rigging. A day earlier in Cologne, a tax fraud case involving Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen was widened to include possible fixed matches. "We have information with substance, now we have to check it out," Cologne chief district attorney Guenther Feld said.

Bordeaux defender David Jemmali sent forward a long ball and Denilson clipped it neatly into the bottom corner after Nice defender Sammy Traore misjudged the bounce. Denilson nearly set the record for scoring the quickest goal in the history of the French first division. Caen's Michel Rio scored after only eight seconds against Cannes in 1992.
